ABSTRACT

Objective:

The aim of this study is to compare the role of ultrasonography (USG), color doppler ultrasonography (CDUSG), mammography and magnetic resonans imaging (MRI) in the detection of suspicious breast lesions.

Material and Methods:

Thirty-two patients with breast lesions which determined with USG and mammography were evaluated with RDUSG and MRI and classified according to Bİ-RADS categories.

Results:

Among 37 biopsy specimens; fifteen (40,5 %) were benign and twenty-two (59,4 %) were malign. The negative predictive value of MRI was 92 %, positive predictive value was 91 % in the evaluation of suspicious lesions. The twenty-three of thirty-seven lesions were diagnosed as malign by MRI and twenty-one of these lesions were true positive.

Conclusion:

Compared to all the modalities it was concluded that MRI owned the highest value of positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV).
