ABSTRACT
In this study, insulin resistance and it’s relationship with disease activity at patients with rheumatoid arthritis were evaluated. Disease activity was calculated with DAS 28 scale. Waist circumference, CRP, insulin, blood glucose and arterial tension were measured. HOMA IR was calculated. Mann Whitney U, ANOVA and Tukey HSD, Kruskal Wallis test and Pearson corelation analysis were used.
106 patients 12 men and 94 women, were evaluated, and 84 patients had sero-positive rheumatoid arthritis. Mean age (47 yrs), mean waist circumference (93.4 cm), BMI (27.5), mean DAS 28 score (4.5) and mean HOMA IR (2.1) were also calculated.
There was no positive relationship with insulin resistancy and elevated inflammation level. According to DAS 28 score evaluation, there was no correlation between disease activity and insulin resistance.
