ABSTRACT

F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-18 FDG PET) is becoming a standard imaging modality in the diagnosis, staging and evaluation of therapy response for most malignant diseases. It is being used routinely in the evaluation head and neck tumors. PET/CT can be used for staging and identification of head and neck tumors with high accuracy. Also it is possible to measure and visualize metabolic changes in cancer cells. In this study, we investigated the importance of PET/CT in head and neck tumors.
