ABSTRACT

Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome (MRS) is a neuro-mucocutaneous granulomatous disease which is characterized by a triad of recurrent facial nerve palsy, orofacial edema, and fissured tongue. Classic triad is extremely rare and usually monosymptomatic involvement is seen. Facial paralysis is usually unilateral. Etiology of MRS is not fully understood. Symptoms often resolve spontaneously or with medical therapy, but some patients may require surgical treatment with a progressive course. Since the disease is uncommon, diagnosis usually delays. In this article, the 28 year-old female patient diagnosed with MRS is presented. For the fifth time facial paralysis, lower lip with recurrent edema and fissured tongue structure had the classic triad of MRS. Facial paralysis of patient declined from House Brackmann grade 4 to grade 2 with oral prednisolone therapy at 3 week.
