ABSTRACT

Gossypiboma is used to describe unintentionally retained surgical item in the body after an operation. A 52-year-old man presented with palpable abdominal mass fifteen years after cholecysctectomy operation. It was diagnosed as hydatid cyst preoperatively and as gastrointestinal stromal tumor intraoperatively. Gossypiboma should be in the differential diagnosis of any postoperative patient who presents with palpable mass.
