ABSTRACT

Osephageal Granular Cell Tumors are rarely seen. They are detected endoscopically in patients with dyspeptic complaints. They are usually benign, however because they have a potential of malignancy, for definite diagnosis and treatment, histopathological evaluation is essential.

In archival material of Acıbadem Health Group Pathology Department between January 2011 and December 2014, 7 cases of esophageal GCTs were found and these cases were reviewed retrospectively. Median age of the patients was 46 (range, 37-56 years old). Three cases were female and 4 were male. Clinical, endoscopical and histopathological features were examined.

Esofageal GCTs are rarely seen, usually benign tumors originating from nervous system. They have a malignancy potential, therefore it is recommended to determine the location and depth of invasion of the tumor by endoscopic USG, and as for treatment, to apply endoscopical resection with intact surgical margins.
