ABSTRACT

Most of the risk factors related with atherosclerosis and cardiovascular mortality, and morbidity have been also found to be associated with endothelial dysfunction. Concentrations of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) which are in close relation with endothelial dysfunction increase in patients with cardiovascular disease and in most of the cases which increase cardiovascular risk factors. ADMA is an independent risk factor for endothelial dysfunction and congestive heart failure. Currently, ADMA has been evaluated in almost all of the cardiometabolic risk parameters. In this review article we aimed to assess the associations of ADMA with these parameters.
