ABSTRACT

Introduction:

Career planning has a significant role for modern organisations in order to increase the efficiency and performance. Placement of nurses to the positions that they can carry, will motivate them to work happily with higher performance and also increase the service quality of nursing care services and hospitals. This study was prepared to examine the assesment of career planning works of nurses operating in the training and research hospital and their differentations according to the descriptive properties of this assesment.

Material and Method:

Design of the study is descriptive. Universal set of the study constitutes entire population of nurses working on the training and research hospital which is belong to Ministry of Health, sample cluster contitutes 100 volunteer nurses who are chosen by simple random sampling methodology.

Results:

Nurses examined according to the study indicated that, 87 % (n=87) is female, 47% (n=47) is between the age of 30-39, 65% (n=65) is married, 37% (n=37) is graduated from medical vocational high school, 43% (n=43) have been working in the same hospital between 2-5 years and 82% (n=82) is working as a nurse. Samples also indicate that 56% (n=56) knows the new Nursing Law and 52% (n=52) believes that new Nursing Law will effect their career planning. Addition to this 53% (n=53) is discontent with their current position and 43% (n=43) is considering to have additional certificates for special branches priorly for their careers.

Conclusion:

The effectiveness of career management application is over the average, their opinions about the effectiveness of the career planning effectiveness don’t differentiate according to gender, marital status, working period as a nurse, working period in the current.
