This research is conducted to find out causes of nurses’ stressors and their work related issues at Istanbul Okmeydani Training and Research Hospital.
This research uses simple exploratory design. The sample size is 196 nurses taken randomly from the population. The data is collected using a data form and the assessment of stress sources. In analyzing the data, one-way Anova, Tukey’s HDS test, Kruskal Wallis test, Chi-Square test are used. For the validity and reliability, Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient is calculated. The results are based on 95% confidence limit and p<.05 significance level.
The most significant causes of stress among nurses include: lack of harmony in teamwork, inadequate amount of materials and tools, and problems faced with administrators. It is found that 68,9 % of nurses (n=135) are having medium level of stress. It also observed that social stress levels in nurses employed less than 1 year are significantly less than nurses employed more than 11 years.
The nurses are found to be falling into the 3rd group according to the Stress Sources, which indicates that the nurses have tendency to develop illnesses due to stress. It is also found that their stress level distribution is in the middle level.
