ABSTRACT
Gallbladder torsion is a rare condition that was first described in 1928. Less than 300 cases have been reported, until today. Most of the reported cases were 60 to 80 years old female patients. Although the etiology is not known exactly, various predisposing factors arising from the anatomic variations of the bile ducts have been described. It is usually diagnosed peroperatively while the patient is being operated with the preliminary diagnosis of acute cholecystitis. Treatment method is surgery.
