ABSTRACT
Objective:
In our study, we evaluated 53 patients who had undergone percutaneous tracheostomy with Griggs method which is a widely used technique.
Material and Methods:
Fifty-three cases (23 female and 30 male, ages between 21-78) in whom percutaneous tracheostomy has been applied in intensive care unit from 2008 to 2011, were retrospectively evaluated.
Results:
Percutaneous tracheostomy was performed succesfully in all cases. As complication, minor bleeding was detected in two patients and tracheal stenosis in three patients and total complication rate was 9.4%.
Conclusion:
We concluded that percutaneous tracheostomy with Griggs method can be easily performed at the bedside and has a low complication ratio.
