ABSTRACT

Today, acute pancreatitis is still a highly mortal desease, despite modern methods of diagnosis and treatment. ERCP is a current treatment in acute biliary pancreatitis and reduces the morbidity and mortality rates significantly.

Mean age of patients with acute pancreatitis was 46 years. Thirteen male and 15 female patients were studied. In all patients who underwent ERCP, a biliary etiology was noted of these patients, 18 were staged Ranson 3, and 10 were staged Ranson 4. One patient died because of acute necrotising pancreatitis and multi- organ failure after a hospital stay of 8 days.

We retrospectively studied 28 of 112 patients who underwent ERCP between January-2007 and January-2010 as for demographic characteristics, hospital stay, mortality and early complications. All these patients underwent ERCP while they were hospitalized.

In this study, our aim was to present and discuss the patients with acute biliary pancreatitis who underwent Endocsopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in our clinic.
