A significant correlation between blood uric acid levels and hypertension has been found in previous researches performed among hypertensive patients. As a result, ıt has been reported that uric acid is a routine parameter to be studied in the newly diagnosed hypertension patients.

In this study, we evaluated the patients who had applied to the internal medicine outpatient clinics of our hospital without any other concomitant disease and /or recent history of any drug therapy.

At the end of our study, we didnt find a statistically significant correlation between uric acid levels and hypertension. However there was a significant correlation between the blood uric acid levels and the levels of triglicerides, VLDL (very low density lipoproteins), HDL (high density lipoproteins) and fasting blood glucose. This significant correlation was also reported in other studies in the literature.
