The aim of testing addictive substances is to determine the legal or illegal substances. For this purpose, after the urine test substance usually subjected to screening by immunological methods substances which are suspicious to be positive are being confirmed by methods like gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or liquid chromatography/mass/mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). Although mostly urine samples are used for material tests, biological samples like saliva, hair, blood are also used. Reliability of tests and validity of reviews are extremely important. Laboratory services for drug addiction must have a plan and organizational structure in order to take part in international quality system.
