Retrospective Analysis of 14 Cutaneous Sarcoidosis Patients with Clinical and Dermoscopic Features

Objective:

Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic disease of unknown etiology that is characterized by noncaseating granulomas. The aim of this study is to review our sarcoidosis patients retrospectively with clinical and dermoscopic features.

Material and Method:

The medical reports of 14 patients diagnosed as cutaneous sarcoidosis between 2010 and 2015 were retrospectively reviewed.

Results:

13 patients were women and one patient was man. The most common dermatological lesion was maculopapular lesion and the most common site was face. Pulmonary involvement was seen in 7 patients. The most common lesion seen with pulmonary involvement was erythema nodosum. The most common dermoscopic feature was translucent yellow-orange structureless areas. Yellow globules, white lines, white structureless areas covering yellow areas, short vessels and central scar-like areas were observed with decreasing rate.

Conclusion:

Cutaneous sarcoidosis mostly present with facial maculopapular lesions with translucent yellow areas seen in dermoscopic examination.
