Obesity hypoventilation syndrome is characterized by obesity and alveolar hypoventilation which can not be explained with any other reason. Today with the increasing prevalence of obesity, its incidence is also increasing. Although many patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome had chronic hypoventilation, they are diagnosed during hospitalization because of acute respiratory failure. Early diagnosis and initiation of therapy is important to prevent the negative effects of obesity hypoventilation.
