Obesity has also become a prevalent disease in recent years in our country as well as for modern, advanced, western societies. Obesity that adversely affects many organ systems (e.g., cardiovascular and respiratory systems) increases the mortality and morbidity. Obese patients can encounter with the considerable difficulties in mask ventilation and intubation during anaesthesia. Also, the volume of the distribution of body and the elimination of the drugs used get changed. All these influence anaesthesiologists’ approaches towards obese patients. In this review, obesity and the anaesthetic approach towards obese patients were evaluated.
