Adenoid cystic carcinoma is a malignant tumor of the salivary glands. Hypopharynx is a rare localization. The treatment of adenoid cystic carcinoma is complete removal of the tumor and postoperative radiation therapy. However, the role of radiotherapy in head and neck is controversial. 39-year-old male patient’s biopsy who presented with difficulty in swallowing was reported as adenoid cystic carcinoma.

In this case report, the important prognostic factos of adenoid carcinoma; patients age, tumor location, type and duration of symptoms, clinical stage, treatment modality, histologic subtype, perineural and / or vascular invasion and positive surgical margin are analysed and presented in association with the literature.
