Infectious diseases epidemiology has important differences from other fields’ epidemiologies. The cases in Infectious Diseases can also be risk factors. A part of the population is immune to specific infections. A patient can also be the source. In infectious Disease epidemiology there can be a situation that concerns public health and can be an emergency that needs urgent measures. Infectious Diseases needs multidiciplinary co-operation. In this study basic definitions, outbreak definitions and the recent outbreaks in Turkey are reviewed.
