A Case of Subacute Combined Degeneration: Atypical Involvement of Anterior Columns

The major neurologic manifestations of vitamin B12 deficiency are the result of its effects on the brain, optic nerves, peripheral nerves and spinal cord. Subacute combined degeneration (SCD) of the spinal cord, characterized by degeneration of lateral and posterior columns, is a complication of vitamin B12 deficiency.Herein, we present a case of subacute combined degeneration due to vitamin B12 defiency whose magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed involvement in the anteior column of cervical spinal cord.
